we're on vision mission with [Music] you learning about exercise Miss Penny hi Kid Vision kids it's great to see you today welcome to the Kid Vision playroom I start every day with stretches and exercises to make me feel good and strong let's do some exercising are you ready yes put your arms way up high and touch the sky as high as you can go and hold it for four ready one two three four good job now let's touch our toes one two three four good job put your hands over your head one two three four and now let's stretch to the other side one 2 3 four good job let's take a big deep breath in and out great stretching is a great way to loosen up our muscles so we are ready for the day it looks like someone's calling us let's see who it is it's shirona she's a track and field coach hi coach shirona hi Miss Penny this is the start of our new season I was wondering if you were interested in coming to learn about track and field yes we would love to come we'll be there as soon as we can awesome see you then come on Kid Vision kids it's time to learn about track and field it is a great way to exercise there are so many events for us to learn about are you ready on your mark Get Set let's go on a mission [Music] hi Kid Vision kids I am so excited to be here at a track and field practice but before we get started I think we need to learn more about where we're [Music] at shiny can you help us great kid Vision kids this is where the sport track and field happens track and field is a sport that includes contests based on running jumping and throwing let's break down the name of the sport track and field the track is where the athletes run each athlete runs on their own lane depending on the race the athletes run different distances sometimes they run 100 m 200 M or 400 m wow 400 m is the entire last around the track all right let's talk about the field the field is where the athletes practice throwing and jumping skills I can't wait to learn more about track and field events with the honest Runners team let's go that was perfect thank you now we're ready for track and field let's go warm up to prepare your muscles for practice it is very important to warm up and stretch now that we're warmed up let's find out more about the sport what is track and field with track and field we have different events that the kids compete in we have the 100 the 200 the 400 the 800 the 1600 we also have called a race walk we have long jump and high jump we have shop foot that's another Phil event kids participate in different events depend on their time a lot of kids participate with track from five years old into High School into college and some might make it to the Olympics one day you know that would be a good experience for our kids so that would be great yes what is the job of a coach so the job of a coach is to motivate the kids not to come down hard on them to let them know that if they dig deep they can be whatever they want to be if they want to be the top athlete in the age group just to try to motivate them to come to practice and practice hard every day good job good job good job good job Squad a little bit now we just spinning the top all right good job and pushing out one motion all right Focus make sure you finish high on you good good good good good good practice they coming out here they're warming up they're learning different techniques they're going to stretch and then they're going to do the same events over and over and over again it's going to be repetitive so they can build up the strength that they need to go and compete and once we get to a track meet it's showtime you know it's time for them to turn it on they have to put forth their best effort because you only have one time to make it to the finals I'm out here to really motivate them and to teach them the fundamentals of track we are a a teaching Club so honest Runners of North Miami is a propit organization we're not only grooming young athletes we're grooming productive citizens as well trying to Mentor them to be better people children need something positive to do after school we teach the children from very young the techniques how to breathe how to stay in their Lanes um how to just get out and run each event and run their own race and not be so concerned about the person next to them track and field is also just about determination you know how that the same goals practice makes perfect so as they come out here every day and they get accustomed to running it gets easier and easier and easier once you win it's the best feeling in the world [Music] yeah to put it's a fun event it's not all about strength people think it's all about strength but it's not you have to learn a certain technique in order to throw the ball in a certain way you ready okay I'm ready I'm ready you want to get this here under your neck but below under your ear but before your Jawbone okay with your palm out you press that against your neck all right this off arm uses as a momentum swinger all right this is what pulls your body for your throat all right you also will have to bend your knees okay bend your knees and twist your upper body then you're going to have a pull and push action pull and push going your elbow is going to pull here and this arm is going to push the ball out okay all right so it has to push from your neck and motion just like that finish High the goal is to throw it as far as you right who can throw it the farthest that's the goal you know I mean but like I said there's a lot of technique behind it but once you get the technique down the battery can throw it all right let's give it another shot do it hand out all right let's Bend and twist push out good push good job good job good push and pull good job good job good job that was good great job all right hi everyone hi it is so nice to meet you I'd like to ask you some questions who would like to tell me what the favorite part is about being on a track team we get to do a lot of practices and it's my dream to go to the Olympics you want to be the fastest man in the world I bet you can do it hi what's your name and how old are you three you're three and you're running already I saw you running before you're really fast yeah so fast so you two run together yes um our dad he SES like if you get tired or about to quit he try to motivate us to keep going until he finish finish hard and then we had so much fun to together because you don't give up on yourself right yes don't stop and don't give up don't stop and don't give up that's very good advice so you've been running track a long time when you're running and you're winning and you're losing it helps you in life don't you feel that way yeah that if you lose you feel like okay but I can keep going and do it better next time yeah it helps me by uh finding a different way to look at things and to do things so say if I don't win the first time I'll come back harder and do it [Music] again today was a great experience watching practice and being part of it thank you so much for inviting Shin of course of course I hope you enjoyed it yes yeah and they can run outside and get ready right to start just start running around your neighborhood is just that easy [Music] bye that was so much fun we learned that track and field is great exercise and a lot of hard work it's a sport made up of a lot of different challenges running jumping throwing oh man we learned a lot of things and a lot of new words let's go to the Kid Vision class room and find out some new words that we learned while we were there put on your thinking caps it's time to learn a new word athlete an athlete is a person who competes in one or more sports that involve physical strength speed or endurance what was that word good job coach a sports coach is a person who is in charge of the organization and training of a sports team or person what was that word coach good job running running is to move your legs at a speed faster than walking for an instant in each step both feet are off the ground what was that word rning good job Track and Field track and field is a sport that includes athletic contests based on running jumping and throwing skills what was that word Jack and field good [Music] job I have an idea let's play a game that uses all of the things we learned in track and field we learned about running and jumping and throwing we can exercise and have fun let's play Miss Penny says it's a lot like Simon says but it's Miss Penny says so put on your listening ears did you do that if you did I caught you and you're out it has to say Miss Penny says put on your listening ears now you're doing it Miss Penny says run in place track and field is hard Miss Penny says run faster stop did you stop upop keep running Miss Penny says jump high Miss Penny says stop good job let's throw the shot put are you ready to remember how to do it ready Miss Penny says throw the shot put are you doing it I hope I'm doing it right are you yes Miss Penny says stop good job I love playing Miss Penny says Kid Vision kids you don't need a lot of equipment to exercise like the track and field teams and like we just did you can run you can jump you can throw anywhere and any time but what you do need is water you need to drink water before during and after you exercise it's very important to stay hydrated let me find my water bottle shiny have you seen my water bottle wow thank you would you like to take a drink with me it's important to stay hydrated we want to drink a lot of water and look at our bottle it's a reusable bottle we every time we drink water we can fill it back up so that we're not wasting anything that we're using it's great to stay hydrated I love water M it tastes good and it's good for you too way to go Kid Vision kids track and field is a great way to exercise but you know there are a lot of different ways to exercise come with me to a gym let's find out more about that are you ready we're going on a k mission [Music] we're here today to find out about exercise we want to live a long and healthy life and we understand that exercise is an important part of that so we want to learn how to do it well thanks for coming to my gym I'd love to show you everything I know and teach you how to have fun while working out let's get started let's go all right guys now we're going to over stretching and warming up it's one of the most important parts of exercise it helps to prevent injury and it'll help you be faster and stronger when you do exercise so let's start with some head circles and get our necks good and loose nice and easy we'll go the other direction good now we're going to do some arm circles and get our shoulders nice and loose Big Arm circles and backwards other direction and give yourself a hug say good job for working out today good job all right now let's do some hip circles big circles with your hips other direction there we go all right and give it a Twist and stretch your back now we're going to do some static stretching by holding the stretch for four 3 2 1 and we're going to step out a little bit wider here and go down the middle again for four three two one off to your left foot four three two one off to the right count with me four three two one good all right now put your hand on your shoulder of your neighbor and pull your heel up and let's go ahead and switch legs you can grab onto my arm here for balance there you go and we want to bring our arms across stretch out our shoulder four three two one other side four four three two one all right and last thing let's roll our wrists out good idea some wrist circles and now you guys are ready to get your workout on right yeah all right good let's get started with our workout let's go all right kids so now we're going to go ahead and do our warmup we've already stretched and we want to get our body ready for the exercise that we're going to do next so we're going to get our joints nice and warm and get our heart pumping so let's start with some jumping jacks okay I want you to count with me ready we're going to go overhead 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 watch out for your neighbors 2 1 good and now you guys remember how to squat right like you're sitting in a chair 10 nine count with me out loud eight 7 6 5 4 3 2 one all right now we're going to see who's strong and do some push-ups on our knees keep your body straight we're going to go down and up for 10 nine all the way down touch that chest eight count with me guys seven six five 4 3 2 perfect and last one we're going to do our sit-ups remember those we're to sit back touch the ground and touch our shoes for 10 count with me out loud nine let me hear you guys eight seven come on all the way up six 5 4 three two come on almost done almost done and one one all right you guys think you have one more round in you no you're warm all right I think we're warm we're warm enough okay good all right guys so now we're going to start our workout and we're going to work out like animals today is everybody ready yeah okay we're going to start with a bear crawl so everybody's going to get down on all fors we're going to crawl all the way down turn around and crawl back girls first show me how it's done go our next animal is going to be our gorilla all the way down and pound the chest at the end it's going to be Bunny Hop for the girls all right now the boys are going to do the Frog the duck walk is next are you ready we're in to squat Get Your Wings on and waddle like a duck quack quack quack quack quack great job that's how we work out like animals we are animals all right kids obstacle courses are a fun way to exercise your whole body so I'm going to show you how we're going to do it and then we're each going to go through the obstacle course okay you're going to start by running a zigzag through the balls then you're going to climb over the Box Mountain under the tunnel you're going to grab the rope and swing back this direction [Music] sound like fun yeah yeah and then we're going to run all the way back here and tag the next person in line who's going to go first all right let's hit it go [Music] [Music] [Applause] bye put on your thinking caps it's time to learn a new word exercise exercise is a physical activity that is done to become stronger and healthier what was that word exercise good job obstacle course an obstacle course is a series of objects that people have to maneuver their bodies around over under and through what was that word obstacle course good job stretch a stretch is done when you extend a body part to its full length to help warm up and lengthen your muscles what was that word Str yes good job warmup a warmup is a group of exercises done to get your body ready for a harder workout what was that word La good [Music] job it's a good idea to have a healthy snack like fruit or granola bar when you're exercising it gives your body energy it's like filling up your car with gas but you're filling up your body with nut nutrition it makes it run better and you want to use sunglasses or a hat could help protect your eyes and your head from the Sun that's important if it's cold outside make sure to bring your jacket with you and if it's warm you want to wear a nice light t-shirt the most important thing is to wear comfortable clothes so that you can easily move around and get as much exercise as possible I have a good idea let's do animal freeze it's like dance freeze but we're going to act like animals and get exercise just like they did at the gym we can do this let me take off my necklace we don't want to ruin it okay stand up and get ready to be animals let's listen to the music is it playing yes I think so let's start with the bear crawl ready crawl around like a bear freeze okay let's hear the music for the next animal let's be gorillas did you like the gorilla I did are you ready yes let's hear the music start be the gorilla gorillas are are you ready to pound on your chest let's stop pound on our chest music stopped good thing let's waddle like ducks are you ready let's listen for the music I hear it are you ready to be waddlers we have to waddle waddle waddle W wad water water wad stop woo that was a lot of good exercise way to go Kid Vision kids I knew you could do it that's a mission accomplish good job we definitely had a great time learning about exercise but it's time to clean up our mess are you ready let's do it Kid Vision kids we had a wonderful time learning about exercise today we achieved our kid vision mission we learned about the sport of track and field and we worked out at a gym we'll see you next time for another kid vision mission [Music] bye what they do on a kid with
