Today we are going to practice engineering by building a box lid maze.
Just like when you're standing in line and people have to wind around and get around to get where they're going, engineers put that together so we are going to engineer something that will help us practice mobility and stability.
The main goal of a maze game is to give the ball from a starting point to a finish point while avoiding obstacles and dead ends.
We'll need a box top or lid, straws, scissors, tape, a pencil, and a marble.
So the first thing we're going to do is create a path for our marbles to go down.
Let's grab our pencils to start thinking of a design for our maze.
Once you have an idea start sketching it on the box lid.
Now let's create the pathways the marble will go through by cutting the straws and taping them to the top of the lines we drew on the lid.
So I need two pieces of straw that are exactly the same size.
So I'm going to cut my straw at the same time so I have two pieces.
Line that up.
So the ball can fit through the middle, make sure.
Good and now I'm going to tape my straw down.
You can make this however you want there's no right or wrong way the point is that I'm building something that works.
That my marbles can go down the path and they'll be okay.
Once you're done taping down the straws go ahead and add stickers wherever you want.
Now try it out!
Are you ready?
Let's see what happens.
Look at that.
We're engineers!
We made a great pathway.
You are amazing!
